Bondurant, Iowa was founded in 1884 and was named in honor of Alexander C. Bondurant, the first settler to the area. Located just to the north of Altoona, IA and a short 18 minute drive to downtown Des Moines, Bondurant is an excellent place to live, work and play away from the bustle of the big city.

During the summer, Bondurant offers an excellent place to get out and enjoy all what Iowa has to offer. Bondurant Summerfest is hosted the third week in June where you can enjoy a parade, fireworks, carnival rides, live music and much more. Stick around for Celebrate Bondurant in July for even more great food and live music. Starting in August, you can head over to Legion Hall for a community breakfast, hosted the 3rd Saturday of every month.

Lake Petocka provides a great place to enjoy a picnic, go for a swim, fish for trout or catfish or take a leisurely walk. In August, Lake Petocka hosts the Lake Petockathon Games where teams can compete in decathlon-style games for prizes and bragging rights.
